How to switch phones with Verizon without paying an outrageous amount for it?

Verizon is expensive. I got a palm centro. It sucks. No one told me that i would have extra fees for having a PDA. So now instead of my phone bill being $90 its $190. I want to change phones but can only get another one for full retail price. Where can i buy a phone that will work with Verizon? A reliable website perhaps? Or a store other than Verizon?

My upgrade doesnt come till november of 2010, and i need a new phone alot sooner. By cheap, I mean under $150, and the ATT online store sells them at price (upwards of $200 for even the simplest phones). I don’t have any expirience with unlocked phones, so if you suggest that, please tell me about how that goes over with the company.

I want the Motorola Droid but my dad works for AT&T, so he cannot sign the contract for a different service (In this case, Verizon). I might come across the phone itself, but how can I get the service without him signing a contract?

I work for verizon and the only way I know how to get out of a contract is either you are dead or move where there is no coverage! So…. how can I do this with ATT? I’m not dead and I do get coverage..and they will be able to see this. Any tips. I got 2 lines with att and its 175 per line to cancel.
